In 1996, I was one of five knifemakers who founded the Italian Knife Guild (Corporazione Italiana Coltellinai). The following November, we organized the Guild's first show in Milan. The 17th annual show will be held this year, and we are proud that it has continued to be an outstanding event, hosting the finest custom knifemakers in the world.
Today, Milan is a center of the modern custom knifemaking community, and many prominent collectors and dealers also attend the show.
I served as president and secretary of the Italian Guild for a number of years and was also a member of the American Knifemaker's Guild, participating in hundreds of shows in Europe and the United States, from Milan to Paris, New York, Orlando, Atlanta, and many others. I am no longer making knives; however, the Italian Knife Guild's board of directors has requested that I continue to assist with the organization of the annual Milan show. It is both an honor and a great pleasure for me to do this because during my years as a knifemaker and as a photographer I have made many contacts and developed great friendships with notable collectors, knifemakers, and dealers from around the world.
